Happy Mother’s Day 2022

Today, Sunday, May 8th is Mothers Day 2022. Why do we celebrate Mothers Day? For “the person who has done more for you than anyone in the world” – Anna Jarvis. The US holiday of Mother’s Day was first celebrated in 1908, when Anna Jarvis held a memorial for her mother at Saint Andrew’s Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia. Saint Andrew’s Methodist Church has an International Mother’s Day Shrine now to remember. Her campaign to make “Mother’s Day” a recognized holiday in the United States began in 1905, the year her mother, Ann Reeves Jarvis, died. The mother, Ann Jarvis, had been a peace activist who cared for wounded soldiers on both sides of the American Civil War. Ann created Mother’s Day Work Clubs to address public health issues. Anna Jarvis wanted to honor her mother by continuing the work she started and to set aside a day to honor all mothers.

The Cold Chamber Die Castings in 2021

The Cold Chamber Die Casting. Metals in various sizes and shapes are produced through many casting procedures and one of them is die casting. Zinc Die casting produces durable alloy in different shapes and can be produced in many identical pieces. The procedure requires machines with molds or dies where the molten alloy is placed and solidified. The alloys usually used in die casting are aluminum, zinc, copper, magnesium, tin, and lead. They have different metallurgical properties and they can be used depending on their properties.
There are two methods in die casting: hot-chamber and cold-chamber die casting. Metals with low melting point can be placed in hot chamber machines while those with high melting point can be placed in cold-chamber machines. Also, the difference between the two is the main process in which the alloys are produced.
In cold chamber die casting, the alloys are melted in a furnace separated from the machine. When the alloys are already melted, they are transferred to the dies through the use of hydraulic or mechanical piston. In the cold die chamber, the alloys are quickly hardened. One of the disadvantages of using the cold chamber die casting is the longer time needed for the alloys to be formed because of the additional time for transferring the alloys to the chamber. A ladle is used to transport the molten metal from the furnace to the cold chamber. The ladle can be manual or automatic in terms of operation.
Examples of alloys that can be used in cold chamber are aluminum, magnesium, and copper.

What is Magnesium? It is usually depicted as a metal, second only to steel and aluminum in popularity. Aside from that, people don’t know much more about it, even though it has so many uses. So, what is magnesium?

Magnesium, with the chemical symbol Mg, is the ninth most abundant element in the universe by mass, and eleventh within the human body. Its many applications include making components for electronic devices, photoengraving plates for printing, paper manufacturing, and fireproofing wood. Ever heard of mag wheels? Those shiny high-grade car wheels which guys usually drool over in auto shops? They’re not called that because they’re always featured in car magazines – their name comes from what they’re made out of, which is magnesium.

One of the current major uses of the element is in die casting zinc. Because of its light weight, magnesium is one of the most commonly used metals for this purpose, as compared to zinc alloy and aluminum.

A lot of compounds can be made with magnesium, and these compounds, along with magnesium in its purest form, are used over a wide variety of industries. What is magnesium? It is a very important and useful element – it’s not just a third place metal behind steel and aluminum.
