Using Zinc Die Castings. Zinc Die Castings can go a long way in helping manufacturers meet their requirements and bulk orders for zinc parts. This manufacturing process allows for faster, easier and more efficient way of making the parts needed for certain products such as lighting fixtures, car parts, aircraft brackets, handles, heat sinks and amplifiers among other things. Zinc Die Castings can accommodate both low and high quantity requirements for small and medium sized parts. Although there are limitations with this process, it still proves to be very useful in most industries today.
Now, why use zinc in die casting? Actually, most other non ferrous and some ferrous metals can also be used in die casting, however zinc has gained more popularity and is in higher demand. This is because it can be handled easily, it is cheaper than most metals and it is ideal to use as parts in other cases because of its characteristics. It is very strong, durable, flexible and light.
So, how does Zinc Die Castings work? Well, first the zinc will be melted into liquid. This is done by exposing the zinc bars into intense heating in furnaces. After a while, the metal becomes liquid and then it can be injected into moulds. These moulds have unique crevices which will be filled by the liquid metal. To make sure that it gets into every inch of the mould, pressure of up to 30,000 PSI is applied on the mould. This will give the liquid metal its new shape. Once it cools down, the moulds are opened and the liquid has hardened, a few refinements and the product or part is finished.
